If you’ve been keeping up with Michelle’s season of the Bachelorette like we have…I think we need to talk.
I’m not sure how the general public feels about the season…but after three episodes, I already have mixed feelings. In the past, I’ve eaten these shows up. I would mark my calendar, prepare my glass of wine and popcorn for 8:00pm on the dot, and not be able to take my eyes off of the screen until the preview for the next episode had finished.
Now, I just feel that I’ve gotten a little burnt out of all of the drama.
But, at the end of the day, we all know I’m going to keep watching regardless. So, to pump some fun into an otherwise boring season, why not invite your girlfriends over for an official Bachelorette Watch Party? Complete with wine glass sugar cookies, chocolate strawberries, an overflowing cheese board, and (of course), plenty of rosé! Not only is this a great way to save what’s left of the season, but it’s also an excuse to test out your entertaining skills.
Let’s get started!
Creating the cheese board…
Cheese boards are all about personalization. Since our theme was centered around roses (and rosé) we thought to utilize a pink and white theme with romantic elements.
We bought an array of cheeses from Trader Joes and paired it with plenty of bread, crackers, and fruit. If your unsure of what to get, wine cheeses are a great bet, for obvious reasons!
When putting the board together, get creative with your placement! It doesn’t have to be perfect. Most of the time, or so I’ve found, the best cheese boards employ “organized chaos”.
For the rose salami, it may seem complicated, but it was actually super simple and such a great way to add protein to the board. Simply grab a wine glass and lay the salami over the rim. Continue layering pieces of salami over the edges of the previous piece until the entire rim is covered. Then, do another layer, but don’t place your salami directly on top of the previous pieces. Stagger them to create that petal effect!
The more you later, the thicker it will be. And if you want varying sizes of roses, use a champagne glass too!
Making the desserts…
These wine glass-shaped sugar cookies were my sister’s idea and SUCH a fun project outside of the cheese board. We found the cookie cutters on Amazon, and the rest of the idea spiraled from there. It’s not shown in the picture below, but we used food coloring and a standard frosting recipe to “fill” the glasses with pink rosé.
My biggest piece of advice (and the reason we didn’t photograph the final product), wait as long as you possibly can before frosting the cookies. I know, I know…baking 101, but it’s a good tip to keep in mind! If your cookies are too warm, your frosting will be all over the place and won’t hold its shape. Be patient and take your time! You’ll thank yourself later.
If you or your Bachelorette guests aren’t huge cookie people, or you want something less time-consuming, opt for some simple chocolate strawberries. Recipe below!
And that’s all! Now just grab your gal pals, pick up your wine of choice (suggestions here!), and get to watching! Truly, I wouldn’t blame you if you skipped out on the show entirely and just enjoyed your creations…that might be my plan.
Two-Ingredient Chocolate Strawberries
Ingredients
- melting chocolate (the chocolate should look like discs)
- strawberries
Instructions
- Place your chocolate into a microwavable-safe bowl and microwave slowly in small increments, 20-30 seconds at a time, stirring in between until fully melted.
- Once the chocolate is smooth, dip and rotate the strawberries in the chocolate and place them back onto the lined baking sheet. Work quickly, as the chocolate will start to harden again in the bowl.
- After all of the strawberries have been coated, put them into the fridge for about 30 minutes.
