No matter who you are, there’s something extra magical that comes about when remembering Christmas from your childhood. At least for us, that nostalgic feeling of walking down the stairs and seeing presents surrounding the tree, knowing you had the best day imaginable ahead of you…there’s nothing like it!
Now, as my mom and I are both well into adulthood, we pride ourselves on not losing the joy or excitement for the holiday season that we had as kids. And that means shifting our focus to the things that get us into the spirit today. We’re now at the helm of the holiday ship, and curating the perfect vibes that replicate Christmases past, while elevating Christmases of the future, is our goal.
So, a vintage, Ralph Lauren-inspired Christmas was the way to go! One of our favorite parts of holiday decorating and planning is pulling together pieces we loved from past years, and deciding how we’re going to make it just a tiny bit better this time around. And luckily, we’ve run with this theme for many years now, so we can be creative without breaking the bank entirely. But, that doesn’t mean we didn’t get new stuff.
Because…obviously. We had to.
The perfect holiday space starts with the right vibe…
We have a few staples in our holiday repertoire that we reuse year after year, and honestly, couldn’t live without. Here are our suggestions to get you started:
We consider these our musts.
Whether you go for these exact options or not, we couldn’t imagine our cozy, classic Christmas without these things.
At the end of the day, we think that Ralph Lauren does the holidays unlike anyone else. He really knows how to tap into that “Nat King Cole”, snow falling, cozy atmosphere that sparks joy every time you step into a space. So whether or not you’re a huge fan of his work, or have ever gone for this theme in your home, we suggest you give it a try. It really does a lot of the work for you and sets things off on an unbeatable note.
Pepper these elements throughout your home – or anything like them – and you’ll be set! Fresh accents, greenery, some roses, and plenty of candles…you get the idea. Let us know what you thought of this theme in the comments, and whether or not you’ll be incorporating some of these accents into your home this holiday season. You know we will be!
Happy decorating (and make sure not to forget the music)!
