It seems appropriate that our 50th post marks the beginning of a new chapter for Moments. After a fabulous long weekend in New York, I am back in Rocky River (new cookbooks in hand), and Tess is officially a New York City resident. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little envious. The city is both invigorating and inspiring. The neighborhoods are charming, the atmosphere is convivial, and the food – let’s talk!
Although Tess and I are homebodies at heart, we always embrace the opportunity to experience new places. Discovering current favorites (especially restaurants) is one of our most-loved activities, when we’re getting to know a city. Our time in New York City was no exception. We did our homework ahead of the trip regarding our food tour, and left some room for spontaneity. In hindsight – that was a great plan.
Our mornings began with steaming lattes from a rustic chic French American cafe. We lunched at incredible eateries on both bustling sidewalks and quiet street corners. Dinner found us in trendy spots in Soho, and a local favorite wine bar in Brooklyn. The best part was the incredible variety. We had a memorable brunch, at the Mediterranean inspired bistro Jack’s Wife Freda, in West Village. Detroit style pizza was lustily devoured at Emily in Brooklyn. Then, we wrapped up the weekend with a sublime Italian lunch, at the modern Altro Paradiso in Soho.
Although I left the city hungry for more, I have a very special reason to visit New York City again soon. I’m looking forward to having Tess take me to her best-loved spots. Meanwhile, we’ll be cooking together via Google Duo, and sharing all of the fabulous new recipes that New York City gave us the inspiration to try.
Stay tuned…
