There are certain times in life when you come across something that leaves you speechless…and for my mom and I, that dramatic moment occurred when we read a Bon Appetit article about “winter rosé”. Yes, you read that right. Rosé in the winter.

Where it all began…

Like the majority of the population, our rosé consumption had always been reserved for the summer months alongside a beautifully fresh salad and a thermometer that read ninety degrees.

But, there’s something to be said about trying new things, and in 2020 – the year of attempting anything and everything to fill the time – we poured a glass of rosé way ahead of schedule and the rest is history.

What at first felt unnatural and strange suddenly became rejuvenating and exciting. Each sip of that pink wine felt like a burst of energy and spirit thrown into an otherwise gray day. Exactly what we needed.

When you really think about it, why wouldn’t we drink rosé in the winter? All of the parts of the season that can make a person feel dark and gloomy are rendered powerless as soon as rosé enters the picture.

Rosé is the true antithesis of winter…so maybe, that’s why it works!

Of course, we would never suggest throwing away the classic, bold reds and crisp, versatile whites any time soon, but tossing in a glass of something that feels like sunshine in a bottle is never a bad thing.

Long story short, taking risks and going against the status quo in the world of food and wine often pays off – if at least in the learning department. Plus, for all intents and purposes, Moments was born out of that faux pas!

So pour yourself a glass of something fun and brighten up your winter. Before you know it, you’ll be wondering why you hadn’t tried it sooner!
