With the arrival of the first days of warm sunshine and mild temperatures, our minds begin drifting off to the beach. Who doesn’t need some sun, sand and surf right about now? This is when we conjure up some inspiration from Something’s Gotta Give – our all-time favorite beachy movie. If you long to be holed up in a beach house right now (just like we do), here are some Something’s Gotta Give – inspired moments you can easily recreate!

Bucket Hats and Beach Walks

There’s little better than anticipating an effortless day with a steaming cup of coffee in hand, and a glimpse of the ocean beyond the porch. These days are a breath of fresh air – literally. The simplicity is liberating. Throw on a swimsuit, shove a towel, sunscreen, Tidal Ball, a beach read, and a hat in straw bag. Next, pack a picnic to sustain the beachgoers. Our basket likely includes a loaf of crusty whole grain bread, plump and juicy John’s Island tomatoes, a jar of Duke’s mayonnaise, salt & pepper, salty kettle chips, and a crisp bottle of rosé (in a Vinglace’ wine chiller).

Candlelight and Conversation

Queue a sunset beyond the windows, soft ocean breezes wafting in, and a lively dinner with family and friends to wrap up a perfect day. This one’s easy. Queue up your favorite playlist, put a pot of water on to boil, and set a pretty table with fresh cut flowers and linen napkins. Tonight we are making a seasonal 4-ingredient tomato sauce, drinking crisp organic white wine, and serving crusty bread alongside.

Pancakes and PJ’s

This late night snack is breakfast on island time. If you don’t have the windows open to salty sea air, light a candle scented with marine notes (we love Lafco Sea and Dune). Donning your gauzy robe (consider the Parachute Cloud robe), pop an ice cold bottle of champagne, and pull out freshly squeezed orange juice (Whole Foods has the best). With a mimosa in reach, chop a few seasonal fresh figs, and mix up a batch of Lemon Ricotta Pancakes (you can even make this batter ahead). Tender, lemony and light – these are the most satisfying way to curb your late night cravings.
